Technologies and disciplines
Our value proposition is based on a deep knowledge of some of the most cutting-edge technologies and disciplines in the market. That makes us different? We tell you, keep reading.
Aerial and ground LiDAR
Topography and photogrammetry
Geographic information systems
What is?
Traditionally, it has been said that GIS provide the “spatial component or variable” to information systems or alphanumeric databases, allowing layers of information to be represented on a map that are superimposed and that can be exploited together.
Knowing where an element is located or a phenomenon occurs, knowing its geometry or understanding the spatial relationships in its environment, give us a more global perspective of said phenomenon that helps us in its analysis and in the corresponding decision making.
Sciences as disparate as epidemiology or forestry engineering have pioneered the application of GIS-based solutions to monitor the territory and detect patterns of spread (of a virus or a fire), analyze the impact of said spread on the population, and size, plan and manage resources to control it while minimizing damag
What do we contribute and how do we do it?
At COTESA we have been developing GIS solutions for more than 20 years.
We are multidisciplinary, expert and independent consultants. Let’s analyze each of these values that constitute our “promise to the market”.
- Our staff is made up of computer professionals, but also engineers, architects or lawyers, among others. All of them enable us to tackle any challenge by accompanying our clients throughout the entire life cycle of projects, from the diagnosis phase to installation and support, through the development of applications itself.
- Our experts have years of experience, many of them from the origin of the company. Loyal customers and a portfolio of references over time, guarantee us
- We are independent in that we develop on market software or through open-source or open-source application suites, indistinctly.

Where do we apply it?
In the first instance, there are areas of application of GIS clearly linked to cartography and land management, such as urban planning, cadastre, urban street maps and communication routes.
But also, in other sectors such as agriculture and the environment, sustainable mobility or the so-called smart cities for Red.es. And more recently, in the social and healthcare sector, increasingly aware of the advantages of embracing the digitization of its processes from the strategic planning itself.
Mobile applications, IoT, geolocation, GPS
What do we contribute and how do we do it?
Under the heading of “mobility” a series of disciplines are contemplated that can be considered complementary to each other:
- Geolocation platforms that represent “events” or points that move in real time on a map symbolizing the position of a person or vehicle in motion
- GPS: is the acronym in English for a Global Geopositioning System that allows determining the location in X,Y,Z coordinates from the triangulation of signals from a constellation of satellites.
The IoT or Internet of things, a system that allows physical objects that incorporate sensors to be connected to each other to capture and exchange data with each other through the internet.
What do we contribute and how do we do it?
We bring a long experience of two decades in developing solutions using technologies and programming languages to create mobile applications, whether web applications or APPs.
Among the main technologies with which we work, we highlight these
Where do we apply it?
At COTESA we have experience in different fields of application of geolocation technologies.
As a success story in the health sector to highlight, we have a project to develop a geolocation platform for patients, medical staff and electro-medical equipment to optimize operating room waiting lists. For this, the geolocation module was integrated with clinical applications such as the surgical block or informed consent.
As for applications to consume on mobile devices, we mention some examples: field work inspection and SIAC (Citizen Information Systems, tourist data collection at Tourist Information Points, Apps from the RTVPlay suite (now Alacarta), Apps for consultation of multimodal transport routes.
IA, Machine learning and Deep learning
What are they?
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a branch of computer science related to the ability of a machine to solve a problem just as a person would. Try to resolve a situation coherently and as accurately as possible in relation to the environment in which it develops.
If in addition to solving a problem as a person would, we want the machine to learn by itself, then we speak of Machine learning (ML), or what is the same, machine learning.
Finally, deep learning (DL) or deep learning carries out the ML process using an artificial neural network that is made up of a number of hierarchical levels. At the initial level of the hierarchy the network learns something simple and then sends this information to the next level. The next level takes this simple information, combines it, composes some slightly more complex information, and passes it to the third level, and so on.
What do we contribute and how do we do it?
COTESA provides knowledge in AI, which it applies in the field of geospatial analysis and earth observation by automating processes. This is very useful when these services have a place in large extensions of the territory or are carried out repeatedly over time.
At COTESA we apply our own AI-based models or generate new ones depending on the service application. We include within the tasks the training of the models and the quality control of the results.
Where do we apply it?
COTESA applies models to various data sources: satellite image, UAV image, aerial image, video, RGB or LiDAR image.
These models are mainly applied to improve image quality, detect objects or analyze changes. The themes in which we apply these models are fundamentally urban planning, environment, water, security and defense.
Content management and web development
What are they?
Although a web page can be developed from scratch with web programming languages, content management systems or CMS Content Management System solutions are online tools that allow us to launch a website, facilitating the creation of the structure of the pages. and sections, and easily create, manage and publish content.
In the field of development of corporate web portals of public administrations, it could be said that there are three components to fit: the channels of citizen participation to enable, transparency and open data portals.
What do we contribute?
We bring a long experience of two decades in developing solutions using technologies and programming languages to create applications and web portals.
How do we do it?
Among the main technologies with which we work we highlight the CMS Drupal, WordPress, Joomla.
Where do we apply it?
We have developed web applications for public administrations with very varied purposes.
Remote sensing (UAV`s)
What are they?
Remote sensing is the technique of data acquisition of the earth’s surface from sensors installed on space platforms. The electromagnetic interaction between the ground and the sensor generates a series of data that are subsequently processed to obtain interpretable information on the ground.
What do we contribute and how do we do it?
COTESA has the capacity to manage captures with various sensors (UAV’s, LiDAR, Photogrammetry, Mobile Mapping) and in the field of remote sensing it has specific agreements for the supply and sale of satellite images.
In addition, we provide a high level of knowledge with a specific team of experts in advanced remote sensing and AI that extracts high-value content from the images in tasks such as:
- Image processing (generation of orthophotos and elevation models)
- Photo interpretation.
- Cartographic production.
- Object detection.
- Change detection.
Where do we apply it?
We apply these services to:
- Infrastructure monitoring.
- Mapping of areas of interest for security and defense (border).
- Monitoring of the dynamics of land use and natural resources. (SIOSE and NATURA 2000 NETWORK).
- 3d modeling.
- Maps of changes between various dates of satellite images.
Object detection (supports, solar panels, buildings, vegetation differentiating species, bodies of water, roads, cars, ships, military vehicles, etc.).
